every reel on a profile.
Paste a profile, channel or playlist and nothing downloads until you choose: the last 5, all of them, or any number you type. Tick Always and it stops asking.

SnapDown saves video, images and audio from YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, X, Reddit and hundreds of other sites. Then it gives you a real library to search, trim, caption and back them up. Everything stays on your Mac.

Paste one link, a list of them, or a whole profile. SnapDown looks each one up, picks the quality you asked for and downloads in the background, three at a time.
Paste a profile, channel or playlist and nothing downloads until you choose: the last 5, all of them, or any number you type. Tick Always and it stops asking.
Profiles match a site and set resolution, video and image format, and audio bitrate. Instagram at 1080p, YouTube in 4K, a podcast as MP3.
Everything you save keeps what the post said about itself: caption, creator, posting date, likes and views at download, even the soundtrack. Transcribe it, and every word becomes searchable.
Turn on transcript search and a word spoken thirty seconds into a reel finds it.
Editors for video, images and audio are built in. Every edit is saved as a new file beside the original, so nothing you downloaded is overwritten.
Transcribe with OpenAI or Groq Whisper, fix any line, then pick a style and burn it in. The preview and the export render from the same source, so they match exactly.
Trim on a filmstrip with the waveform beneath it, crop to the shape the feed wants, and export for Shorts, Reels or YouTube with your Mac’s hardware encoder.
Crop, rotate and grade photos. Trim audio, tighten the pauses, even out the loudness or clean up a voice. All of it runs on your Mac.
Connect Cloudflare R2 or any S3-compatible storage. Send one file, a selection, or everything with a label you choose, and see at a glance what’s safe.
There’s no account, no ads and no analytics in SnapDown. The library is a database on your Mac, media goes to a folder you choose, and your API keys stay in the Keychain.
Drag SnapDown into Applications. It’s signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens like any other app, and yt-dlp, gallery-dl and FFmpeg come built in.
One per line, or a profile or playlist. A matching profile starts the download; anything that needs a choice asks first.

SnapDown does the media work with well-known open-source programs. They ship unmodified, with their licenses beside them in the app and their sources attached to every release. yt-dlp updates itself, because sites change faster than apps do.

No. SnapDown is built for Macs with Apple Silicon (M1 or later) running macOS 12 Monterey or later. There’s no Intel, Windows or Linux version.
To Movies › SnapDown in your home folder, or any folder you pick in Settings. The library itself is a database in Application Support › SnapDown.
Your own OpenAI or Groq API key, added in Settings › AI Transcription. SnapDown sends only a compressed copy of the audio, never the video, and the provider bills your account.
Some sites, YouTube especially, limit downloads that don’t look signed in. Open Settings › Downloader Cookies and choose a browser you’re signed in with. The cookies are read on your Mac and sent only to that site, as your browser would send them.
SnapDown checks GitHub for new releases and tells you when one is ready; you choose when to install it. Each update is checked against a signature built into the app before anything is replaced. yt-dlp keeps itself current on its own.
Download what you have the right to keep: your own posts, work with a license that allows it, or media you have permission for. Respect each site’s terms and the people who made the work.
No price, no trial, no account. Download SnapDown and start keeping what you watch.
